In accordance with the provisions of the Local Government Act 1993 (The Act), a number of the amended Council Policies are required to be placed on public exhibition prior to adoption. For those policies concerning “Approvals and Orders”, Section 160 of The Act requires Council to place each policy on public exhibition for a period of not less than 28 days, and allow the public 42 days to make their submissions. For those policies concerning the payment of expenses and / or provision of facilities which have had “substantial” amendments Section 253 of The Act requires Council to place each policy on public exhibition for a period of not less than 28 days, and allow the public 28 days to make their submissions Whilst not a requirement of The Act, in maintaining Blayney Shire Council as an open a transparent operation those amended policies which could have an impact on the community will also be exhibited under the same arrangement as provided by Section 253 of The Act. The Freedom of Information Act 1989 requires Council to make all adopted Council Policies available for public viewing upon request. Once Council has adopted each policy, the Policy Register currently available at Council’s front counter will be updated.
